Registering with Us. We ask you to provide your personal information to us on various occasions, such as, when requesting an insurance policy quotation online and when making an online payment. When you register for an insurance policy, we will ask you to provide personal information like CPR, mobile number, email address, mailing address, and home address. The provided information required by the Insurance Company to purchase an insurance policy online. To buy or renew an expired insurance policy online, you will be asked to create an Account online before starting to purchase or renew an expired insurance policy. Depending on the type of insurance required, further information may be collected. We shall maintain a record of all your collected information and reuse when requesting for further service from us.
Applying for Insurance policy with us. If you apply and purchase an insurance product from our website, we may ask for additional information to process your request. Moreover, you will be required to pay a premium using a Credit or Debit Card when purchasing insurance policies online, hence, you will be asked to enter your Credit or Debit Card information. We do not keep a record of your card information.
Getting a quote. We may use your personal information to get in touch with you when necessary in order to process your requests or to provide you with quotations. Furthermore, emails and SMS may be sent to you throughout the transaction processing to inform and update you of the status of your requests and when seeking any additional information that may be required as part of the service required process.
We do not disclose your personal information to third parties, unless one of the following exception applies:
Service Provider. We may disclose your personal information to other companies that help us process or complete your insurance policy application. For example, we may seek to verify validity of your card information in relation to payment of your policy application, with payment processing authorities.
Legal Obligations. As permitted by law and as per CBB Regulations, Volume 3, Article BC-2.14.2, we are committed to protecting customers’ data, unless, we are required by law to disclose any information for national and security reasons beyond our control, reference CBB Volume 3, Article BC-2.14.1.
Providing you with a quote. We may use your personal information to get in touch with you when necessary to process your requests received online or to provide you with a quote. For example, you may receive SMS or email to inform you of the status of your application.
We may collect your personal information on the Website, via:
- enquiry, registration, or feedback forms;
- when making a transaction online, to purchase any our products or services;
- through applications, third parties like Brokers, agents and other insurers;
- Entities like government agencies.
Cookies. “Cookies” are small files that are stored by your web browser to help a particular system to recognize you and the pages you visited in a website. A cookie is only used at Gulf Union Insurance & Reinsurance Co. to identify unique visitor from another visitor during a session. We may use cookie technology to store your account information between sessions and to maintain information about the quote you’ve requested during your session. We do not collect personal information from the cookies. Should you wish to refuse to accept cookies or restrict the data that we collect through our tracking software, you can alter your cookies setting in your browser. However, if you choose to alter your cookies setting in your browser you may be unable to access parts of the website.
Browsers and Internet Security. Every time you enter or provide information in our website, you access through https protocol only, we encrypt it using Secure Socket Layer “SSL” technology. SSL protects information as it crosses the internet. To support this technology, you need an SSL – capable browser. We recommend using a strong encryption, 128-bit preferably 256-bits.
Password Security. Your access to our portal will require entering your password, which you have provided during registration. The password provided should meet the minimum security requirement. The password should be minimum 8 and maximum 15 alphanumeric characters and shall be renewable every 40 days. The password display shall be encrypted. If in the case you forget your password, you may retrieve / reset your password by clicking Reset password in the Log in page.
